How I Spent My Saturday Afternoon...

I couldn't get into the class to paint this painting, so I decided to try it on my own. After 2 hours this is what I came up with:

Not bad, huh?

Beachin' It!

Jeremy and I took a weekend trip to the lovely Gulf Shores, Alabama last weekend. We had a great time and it was nice to get out of town for a little while AND it was the first trip Jeremy and I have taken to the beach together.
We arrived Friday night and set up the camper for the weekend. Jeremy's mom and step-dad have it stored in Gulf Shores for the summer and were nice enough to let us use it for the weekend. I had no idea how much was involved in setting up a camper - power, cable, sewer - lots of work and I didn't even get a picture of it! Oops!
Saturday we had a yummy breakfast at Hazel's Nook and then hit the beach! Not a bad view, huh?

After our day at the beach we were really hungry! We went to dinner at Jolly Rogers in Orange Beach. I had the best Crab Stuffed Mushroom ever and enjoyed this view while dining.
We decided to check out The Wharf after dinner and ride the ferris wheel - and eat ice cream, of course!
We headed home Sunday, but not before stopping at Burris Farm Market in Loxley, Alabama for some fresh peach cobbler, ice cream, and strawberries. Oh yes, we at our way through the weekend! Next time I go somewhere I will be better about documenting it in pictures - I'm still new to this blogging thing! :)

Happy Birthday Corie and Ashley!

A few weeks ago I went out with some friends for a little birthday celebration! I started off the evening by showing how nicely my dress matched Corie's new rug!

And then posing for a few pictures with the birthday girls - Corie and Ashley!
Corie and I posed for a few pictures in front of this fountain in Homewood...

And then had a yummy dinner at Jackson's. Here's Corie with Kurt and Brian...

And me with Landon, Ashley, and Jonathan...

On to The Barking Kudu to see one of the best party bands around...U.S! Here's me, Dawn, Ashley, and Corie living it up!

Happy Birthday, girls! I hope it was the BEST. BIRTHDAY. EVER!

The Fruits of My Labor

I planted two tomato plants back in May and have thusfar been pretty unsuccessful in actually having any tomatoes to eat. I checked my plant this afternoon and I had these tiny cherry tomatoes waiting for me!
It's actually kind of sad. The plant was about 6 inches tall when I planted it and now I think it MIGHT have grown to a whopping 18 inches? Maybe! I don't think my plants are getting enough sun, but I don't have anywhere else to put them. The joys of apartment living!

p.s. Excuse the blurriness of the photos. I left my camera at Jeremy's and now I'm relying on my camera phone! :)

A Budding Artist!?

I went to an art class last night and painted this:

It's called, "Abstract Violins" and I think it turned out really well. I painted along with the instructor (and about 50 other people) as she showed us exactly what to do. It was so much fun! I think I might even buy myself some paints and canvases this weekend and see what I can come up with!

I'm Finished!!

I finished reading HP7 last night. I am happy and feel completely satisfied with the ending, but really sad that the whole saga is over.

I think that's the fastest I've ever read a book. It took me three days - a lot longer than others I know! :)

VACATION!

I took an entire week off from work last week. I've never done that before! Not since college have I enjoyed an entire week of not having to set an alarm clock or be anywhere by a certain time. It was GREAT! Jeremy took last week off, too and we did some work around his house.

Here is the Master Bath before:

And after:

Jeremy and his bro-in-law laid new ceramic tile and I helped paint and stain the cabinets. It's not all put back together yet, but it is much improved!

We also painted his Living Room and Dining Room. Here's the living room before:
And after:

Not a drastic change, but a change nonetheless!!

We also laid tile in the Guest Bathroom, painted the shutters and the front door, and I potted some really pretty flowers (if I do say so myself!)

New tile in the Guest Bathroom:

New RED front door:

New flowers on the front porch:

We DID get to have a little fun at the end of the week, too! Friday morning we headed to Atlanta and went to the Georgia Aquarium, a Braves game, and spent Saturday riding roller coasters at Six Flags.

Here's a pictures of Jeremy and me at the Braves game and the Friday Night Fireworks after the game:
Now I'm ready for a vacation from my vacation!
