This.....is American Idol!

Sadly, we won't get to hear Ryan Seacrest utter that famous line for another 8 months or so. For now, we will have to bask in the glow that is David Cook's win. Deep in my heart I knew he would, but I have to admit I was a little surprised that potential Tween King David Archuleta didn't win. I'm sure they'll both put out successful records - I hope so anyway.

Even more shocking was Simon's apology to Cook for being "disrespectful." Way to go, Simon! I love Simon. Sigh....I agreed that it wasn't as cut and dry as he had made it out to be on Tuesday night. I guess it comes across a lot differently on TV than it does live.

Also shocking was the length (or lack of length) of Carrie Underwood's skirt. Yikes!

7 Randoms and an Update

So, Carrie B. (see her link in my "Blogs I Read" listing - I am not good at linking) tagged me to tell 7 Random Things about myself. Here goes:

1. I get frustrated (like, really, really frustrated) when I don't master something the first time I try i.e. knitting, jewelry making, golf, tennis, running, etc. I usually just give up and stop trying. I am still attempting to master or at least be somewhat decent at each of these listed, so maybe I am turning over a new leaf. Especially golf. I love the game - the sights, sounds, look, manners and everything associated with it. I am determined to be a golfer!

2. My middle finger is nearly 4 inches long. I know this because in my high school chemistry class a guy that sat near me actually measured it one day. There was a fascination with how long my fingers were. They are quite long. P.S. I just got up to go measure it and it is 3 3/4" long. I should have stuck with those piano lessons.

3. I love vintage and antique "stuff." I have started a collection of vintage aprons - most of which came from my grandmother's things - and I actually wear a few of them. I also love vintage handkerchiefs and napkins. I bought a set of 6 embroidered napkins at Trade Days yesterday and I love them!

4. I am obsessive about my checkbook. I write down transactions as soon as I make them and check my bank account online nearly everyday.

5. At last count I had over 50 pair of shoes. Probably half of which are flip-flops. I have a problem.

6. Jeremy says I have a fascination with "older men." I am in love with Patrick Stewart, David Letterman, and Harrison Ford. Just last night I mentioned how George Strait was "looking pretty good for his age" and Jeremy and I both laughed.

7. I think I've mentioned this on my blog before, but I love pizza. Like, seriously, have an obsession with it and could eat it every single day. I don't, of course, but I would if it weren't so bad for me. I have never had a bad pizza and can't even begin to imagine the concept.

Update on my bird situation: I moved my fern out into the back yard because I didn't want those birds flying back and forth from under the patio. Because it is a "shade fern" it quickly began to dry out. I complained about how mad I was that I had to move it for a couple of days and Jeremy, who is much braver than I, went out and removed the nest from my fern. He put it on the ground next to the tree, so hopefully the eggs are ok. My fern is much happier now back in its original spot in the shade. :)

Score One for the Birds

I went outside to water my ferns this morning and a grey dove flew out and nearly took my head off! I took the fern down and found this...

Of all the places it could have built a nest it chose my fern. I moved the fern to the backyard and hung it on this tree. I don't need birds that close to my back door!

A Very Pink Day!

Corie, Shannon, and I gave Ashley and Jonathan a baby shower a few weeks ago. It was tons of fun and very pink! Yes, they are having a girl in June!

I made this fabulous (if I do say so myself) diaper cake!

The adorable mom and dad-to-be!

After we opened all the presents we settled in for an afternoon of "Rock Band!" Ashley requested this herself and we all had a great time!

Maybe My Thumb Isn't Black After All??

Jeremy and I decided to try some upside-down tomato plants. So far, they are growing and haven't shriveled up and died. So far, so good...

And I set out some various flowers in our back yard. They are actually growing and producing flowers. This is a very good sign...

My first attempt at a veggie garden. Everything is green and growing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Weekend in Nashvegas

So, my weekend in Nashville was really great. I feel like I got tons of stuff done for the wedding.

1. Looked at candleabras, arch, table coverings and what-not for the ceremony and reception at Premiere Events in Brentwood. My mom and sister picked them out ahead of time and they did a great job - all I had to do was give my approval.

2. Picked up the bridesmaid dresses at Village Bridal in Hillsboro Village. I was super nervous about this one! It's not easy picking out dresses for other people to wear. They looked really great and I am (finally) happy with my decision. The jewelry mom picked out looks awesome with them, too!

3. Tried on MY wedding dress at Brides by Sugar Drop in Brentwood. I can't say enough good things about this store - it is wonderful! It was great and it was actually a little BIG! It was VERY exciting.

4. Ate WAY too much catfish at Ragland Bottom in Smithville. The ambiance is nothing to behold, but the fish is to die for!

5. Had engagement pictures taken by Tyler Andrews (www.tylerandrews.com). This was the most stressful thing of the whole weekend. A model I am not, but overall they went really well and Jeremy and I had a ton of fun! Tyler is a great photographer and makes you feel as comfortable as possible. We took them at Shelby Park in Nashville near the train bridge - very cool!

The only pictures I took this weekend were of me in my wedding dress - oops. And I am not posting those here. If you want to see it, you'll have to wait until September!
