Spring!

I was so ready for spring to be here this year. Not that I don't LOVE fall and winter - because I do. But I was definitely ready for some warmer temps and time outside! J and I planted our second official vegetable garden about 2 weeks ago and it's looking great so far!

This year we planted tomatoes - Roma, Better Boy, Beefmaster and Cherry, Banana Peppers, Jalapeno Peppers, Bell Peppers, Squash, Okra, and Cucumber. We'll see how it all goes! Notice the cute little vegetable tag - thanks C!! :)

We have the cutest little flower shaped sprinkler, too and I love using it! Here's hoping we get some good results this year. Last year was not too shabby!

Ice Cream

Last night I had a dream that I was in the ice cream aisle at Walmart with a pen and pad of paper pricing all of the large gallon sized containers of ice cream in an effort to find the cheapest one.

Why you ask? I am planning a retirement party/ice cream social at work and I'm wondering how much ice cream I need to buy and how I can get the most ice cream for the least amount of money. Working for a non-profit presents challenges in the "spending" department like you wouldn't believe!!

I can't believe that my worry over how much ice cream to buy manifested itself in a dream. How weird.

Home Again, Home Again...

"Home" being Nashville. I still say that when people ask me where I'm going for the weekend and the answer is Nashville. Even though I haven't lived in Nashville since I left for Auburn back in '97. Aside from that one brief spurt in 2004, but that was during my "lost year" and I don't really count that. :) Tuscaloosa is "home" to me now. My house definitely feels like "home" but for a part of me, my parents house and Nashville will always be home. It's weird like that I guess.

Anyway, J and I are in Nashville this week. He is laying down tile in one of my parents bathrooms and I have been helping mom paint some furniture for one of the bedrooms. Always something fun going on around here, right?! Mom is re-doing what was the office into another guest bedroom and the office has moved upstairs to the bonus room. The guest bedroom is goign to be "shabby chic" with a headboard that is no joke about 150 years old - it belonged to my great-grandmother and her mother before that. It's OLD, but surprisingly in good shape. I painted it "antique lace" - ahem, white - for mom and the walls are a pail shade of pink. I told her it KIND of looked like a baby girl's nursery, but I think the end result will be super cute! Here's hoping anyway.

The major objective of the weekend was to see Dave Matthews Band at Vandy tonight. T-minus 2 hours and 37 minutes until the concert starts! Woot! I haven't seen him in 5 years and that is 5 years TOO long. Can. Not. Wait!

And how about this weather today? It's 80 degrees and sunny here in Nashville and I am loving it. I wasn't ready to let go of the upper 70's for highs quite yet, though. I need my spring time to gradually fade into summer, don't you.

Excuse the complete randomness of this post, but I really want to do a better job of keeping up with my blog, since it's kind of my way of scrapbooking my life because, let's face it, I am a horrible scrapper and will never take it up as a hobby. It's too demanding and I can't deal with it.
Off to check on the handyman.....

"New" Chairs

When Jeremy bought the house that we currently live in, the previous owner left behind the dining table and 6 chairs. Great for us, but the chairs are covered in this ugly, cream-colored fabric. The previous owners had kiddos and the fabric was pretty yucko and stained. I have been dying to re-cover them and we finally did Sunday afternoon!

Before:

And after:

I chose this really pretty paisley-ish fabric and we actually found it at Wal-Mart. Isn't it great?! I love all of the colors.

The two "arm chairs" that go at the table are going to be covered in a green fabric that goes with this fabric. Pictures to come...

Happy Easter

And Can It Be - Charles Wesley, 1738

And can it be that I should gain
An interest in the Savior’s blood?
Died He for me who caused His pain!
For me who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! How can it be That
Thou, my God, should die for me?

Amazing love! How can it be
That Thou, my God, should die for me!
Amazing love! How can it be
That Thou, my God, should die for me!

He left His Father’s throne above,
So free, so infinite His grace!
Emptied Himself of all but love,
And bled for Adam’s helpless race.
‘Tis mercy all, immense and free,
For O my God, it found out me!

Long my imprisoned spirit lay,
Fast bound in sin and nature’s night;
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray;
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

No condemnation now I dread;
Jesus, and all in Him, is mine;
Alive in Him, my living Head,
And clothed in righteousness divine,
Bold I approach the eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own

Absence

I'm still around. I started a new job 2 weeks ago and things have been a little crazy since then. Getting used to a new job (with much less time sitting at a computer all day - praise God!) is kind of tough sometimes.

Last week was revival at church, so I was there three nights, then drove to Nashville on Thursday to see the fam and help host a wedding tea for my cousin, Jessica. No pictures, though. I left my camera at home - argh! Needless to say, I wasn't home much last week and had little time for the internet.

And just because I can't post a blog without a picture....

Here are a few pictures that Jeremy took at the air show in Tuscaloosa last weekend. The Blue Angels were in town and the weather was apparently perfect! There were over 120,000 people crammed into that airport - not sure how that even happened. Anyway, here's a few pictures that my camera took since I forgot to take it to Nashville with me...
